Mission Statement
Our mission shall be to promote the cause of technical and adult education at Southeastern Technical College by acquiring and administering monetary gifts, grants, and other funds and properties principally from area industries, businesses, individuals, other organizations, as well as faculty, staff, and other friends of Southeastern Technical College. Furthermore, our mission shall be to partner with donors to invest in Southeastern Technical College to build stronger communities and a better Georgia.
What is the Foundation?
The Southeastern Tech Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides guidance and helps secure funding for Southeastern Tech. The STC Foundation recognizes the unmet need for funding available to technical education. The Foundation is made up of community leaders from the three county area of Montgomery, Tattnall, and Toombs. The Foundation is important because it provides Southeastern Technical College with the financial support needed to grow. Without the financial support from the Foundation, Southeastern Tech would be unable to meet the needs of the 21st century. Presently, 77% of the jobs in Georgia require some type of technical training. Help us make a difference for the future.
What are the Needs?
Associate Degree Nursing Program
Community support is needed to start an ADN program. There will be more job openings for nurses in our community over the next ten years than for any other type of job. The ADN program is extremely expensive to operate and an endowment to fund instructor positions would be necessary in order to begin the program.
Medical Technology Equipment
A diversity of programs at STC address the need for qualified workers in allied health occupations in our community. Medical technology equipment is needed to provide our students with hands-on training.
Glennville Campus
Equipment is needed for the recently rennovated Glenville Campus, but funding for recruitment and student scholarships is a priority.
Adult Literacy Program
The Adult Literacy program serves students who need their GED, English as a Second Language classes, or literacy classes. In the 2000 U.S. Census, over 32% of the population in Montgomery, Tattnall, and Toombs counties had no high school diploma or GED.
Scholarships
Even though the HOPE Grant is in place, the need still arises for scholarships for our students. Equipment In technology fields, equipment upgrades are constantly needed. State funding is not always available for upgrades. Foundation support is a must.
Auditoriums
The STC auditoriums provide venues for the arts and community activities, which have a positive impact on the local economy. However, the auditoriums receive no state funding for operations. Funds to pay for auditorium upkeep and management are needed.
Other Program Needs
STC continually assesses the needs of the community and, with the help of the Foundation, is able to respond in a timely manner.
