Judy Hart Retires from Southeastern Tech

August 12, 2019 Southeastern Technical College (STC) announces the retirement of Vidalia campus Receptionist Judy Hart.

According to Dr. Barry Dotson, Vice President for Student Affairs, “For 26 years, Hart always strived to make students and customers feel welcome, by greeting them with a cheerful smile, being polite, and listening to their needs.”

Hart said, “It has been a pleasure helping and encouraging students to not give up and see them accomplish their goals and dreams. You can make a difference in someone’s life simply by showing kindness, being courteous and listening to someone.”

“STC has been great for our county and surrounding counties and I am so proud to have been a part of this wonderful college and working closely with the best co-workers a college could have. Thank you for your friendship over the years,” said Hart.

Hart talked about the changes she’s seen, “Enrollment grew tremendously, the school name changed from Southeastern Technical Institute to Southeastern Technical College, we started out with everything and all departments in one building and now we have several buildings and have added many programs. Economic Development has its own building now, as with Dental Hygiene, and Commercial Truck Driving was added with its own facilities.”

Hart began her tenure with STC after the closure of Piggly Wiggly Southern where she worked for 8.5 years in store and warehouse accounting. She looked into programs and classes at STC, enrolling in Information and Office Technology Program, and graduated from STC in 1993.

“Becoming a student in 1992 meant beginning a new career at the age of 40; somewhat scary. Anyone can start at any time. I was out of school for 22 years before starting something new,” said Hart.

Hart looks forward to more time with family and her grandchildren, traveling, and working in her flower gardens.
