Grant Awards Funding for New STC Online Orientation System
May 21, 2013 - First-time students to Southeastern Technical College will have a new way to acquaint themselves with the college, thanks to a grant the school received to fund the creation of an online student orientation.
The grant, received from the Frances Wood Wilson Foundation, covered the purchase cost and early maintenance fees for a new online orientation system for Southeastern Tech.
“Having orientation online is a must in today’s fast paced world,” said Brad Hart, STC’s director of enrollment services. “Students are able to complete the orientation at their convenience, whether that is from home or from one of our on-campus computer labs. All they need is an Internet connection.”
The new orientation software, from Comevo, offers an interactive experience for students that quizzes them at the end to ensure retention of the orientation’s important information.
The grant from the Frances Wood Wilson Foundation, which supports charitable, religious and educational activities in Georgia, will enable future STC students to integrate into the college seamlessly, no matter the distance.
“We are planning to implement the new online orientation this fall, which would be for incoming students for Spring Semester 2014,” said Hart.
