National Technical Honor Society Welcomes Seven STC Members
April 16, 2014 - Seven Southeastern Technical College students were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) in a ceremony held in the Toombs Auditorium on STC’s Vidalia campus on April 14.
“This ceremony marks a special day for our honorees and Southeastern Tech,” said STC’s NTHS advisor, Vikki Holland. “The faculty and administration believe in these special students. Here, today, is a solid investment in our community’s business and industry.”
Holland welcomed Penney Marie Breon from Cochran, Jacqueline Candice Grooms from Collins, Aaron James Johnson from Vidalia, Cassie Marie Joyner from Lyons, Taylor Paige Joyner from Glennville, Christina Marie Storkamp from Tarrytown and Kayla Lynn Williams from Hazlehurst into the honor society.
“The goal of the society is to see that deserving students are recognized and that people in the community become aware of the talents and abilities of our students who choose technical education pathways to a successful future,” said Holland.
The core tenets of the NTHS were represented by eight candles the inductees lit during the ceremonies: knowledge, skill, honesty, service, responsibility, scholarship, citizenship and leadership.
NTHS honors the achievements of top career and technical education students, provides scholarships to encourage the pursuit of higher education, and cultivates excellence in today’s highly competitive, skilled workforce. For over 30 years, NTHS has been the acknowledged leader in the recognition of outstanding student achievement in career and technical education.
