Practical Nursing Class Graduates from STC-Vidalia
December 11, 2013 - The 2013 practical nursing class of Southeastern Technical College’s Vidalia campus graduated in a pinning ceremony on Dec. 10 in the Tattnall Auditorium.
The members of the graduating class were Warren Bullard of Collins, Bayleigh Goff of Lyons, Crystal Holloway of Vidalia, Ashley Ross of Hazlehurst, Erica Shriver of Soperton, Quawonda Tigner of Glennville and Linda Vasquez of Reidsville.
“This program has had so much influence on me,” said Bullard. “It forced me to grow up and be a man. I had to make a commitment to myself and stick to it: that I was going to do this, that I wasn’t going to take no for an answer.”
Speakers during the ceremony talked about the difficulty of the task the students had completed and how the nature of succeeding in the program was itself a lesson in nursing.
“Nurses depend on each other as well as other members of the health care team to ensure patients get the necessary care they need,” said Bullard. “And nursing school challenges you so much that you have no choice but to come together to help one another out in order to succeed. We depend on each other and we didn’t let one another down.”
The practical nursing instructors met each student with smiles as they walked across the auditorium stage and stated their feelings simply.
“All of these students have worked tremendously hard,” said Jennifer Corner, STC Practical Nursing program director.
