Jim Smith of the Appling Healthcare System, an instructor from the students’ clinical learning affiliates, served as their guest speaker.
“It’s been a privilege to work with these girls the last two years,” said Smith. “You can really tell how much they have grown and it’s pretty amazing. I’m just trying to teach them confidence and to believe in yourself.”
During the ceremony, students gave awards for their clinical experience to Melissa Bass of the Appling Healthcare System for Most Outstanding Clinical Instructor, Jim Smith of the Appling Healthcare System for Most Outstanding Technologist and the Appling Healthcare System itself for Most Outstanding Clinical Education Site.
The students themselves also received awards from radiologic technology faculty and clinical affiliates. Melissa Stephens was voted Most Outstanding Student Technologist and the Award of Excellence in Academic Achievement was given to Melissa Stephens, who discussed the resiliency of the group and the substantially of their accomplishment as a whole.
“I think the most important thing we have learned is to not give up,” said Stephens. “Nothing could stop us. We each set a goal and worked hard to achieve it and here we are; we made it.”
