Southeastern Tech Named a Military Friendly School for 2013

October 1, 2012 - The 2013 Military Friendly Schools list was released by Victory Media on Sep. 18 and Southeastern Technical College made the cut.

The list, available at, honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities, and trade schools in the country that are "doing the most to embrace America's military service members, veterans, and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus," according to Victory Media.

Three thousand student veterans were surveyed for the data that informs the list. The results were independently tested by Ernst & Young LLP based upon the weightings and methodology established by Victory Media.

"A school's inclusion on the 2013 list of Military Friendly Schools shows commitment to providing a supportive environment for military students," said Sean Collins, vice president at Victory Media and director for G.I. Jobs. "As interest in education grows, we're thrilled to provide the military community with transparent, world-class resources to assist in their search for schools."

Now in its fourth year, the 2013 Military Friendly Schools list was compiled through extensive research and a data-driven survey of more than 12,000 VA-approved schools nationwide.

Southeastern Tech's inclusion comes as a result of its recent push to open its doors to military students with greater communication with regional bases and enhanced support for its military and veteran student services.

"[STC has] demonstrated a strong interest in recruiting military students," said Rick McCormack, publisher of G.I. Jobs magazine. "On behalf of the 8 million military members and veterans seeking a school, I thank [them]."
