Tippett Graduates TCSG VPA Academy
May 28, 2019 – Kelly Tippett, accountant for Southeastern Technical College (STC), graduated from the Technical College System of Georgia’s VPA Academy.
VPA Academy is a leadership development program sponsored by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) to develop future vice presidents. The VPA Academy was also created to provide those new to TCSG an overview of the many administrative functions of the colleges.
The academy provides a good foundational understanding of the administrative functions of a technical college and is great succession training for those aspiring to be a director of accounting and/or a vice president for administrative services.
Tippett started the program last fall. The academy consisted of four all-day training sessions.
Some of the topics include foundations, asset management, bonds, financial aid, budget, safety, facilities, and human resources. A graduation ceremony was held in May.
“I’m very proud of Kelly for completing the VPA Academy. She has learned a lot in the past year about how our division, Administrative Services, serves Southeastern Technical College as a whole and the functions of the college that we are responsible for overseeing,” said Denise Powell, Vice President for Administrative Services.
“I am honored that I was nominated to participate in the VPA Academy on behalf of Southeastern Tech,” said Tippett. “Through the academy, I gained a valuable overview of the Technical College System of Georgia, which helped me to better understand day-to-day operations at STC. As the accountant for STC, I feel the program prepared me to grow with the TCSG and STC family and to perform my duties with a better understanding of the overall operations and fundamental objectives of STC.”
