STC Board Inducts New Member
January 30, 2014 - Former STC student and Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) winner Tracey Tripp became the newest member of Southeastern Technical College's board of directors on Jan. 23.
At the board's January meeting, chair Don Wilkes swore in Tripp, who will represent Tattnall County and whose relationship with STC began over a decade ago.
“I believe she will add experience combined with student insight which should strengthen the board,” said Wilkes.
Tripp enrolled in the college's accounting program in 2000 and quickly made an impression on her instructors. She was nominated for and won Southeastern Tech's GOAL, and became the first STC GOAL winner to be named a finalist at the state level, finishing as first runner-up in the state competition.
“While Tracey was our [GOAL winner], she spoke at various civic clubs and caught the attention of Dent Temples who ended up hiring her,” said STC President Dr. Cathryn Mitchell. “She has been with the Temples Company ever since and has had a very successful career in commercial real estate.”
The new board member, now a licensed realtor working for The Temples Company, was gracious in her remarks after being sworn in.
“Thank you having me, for welcoming me, and I hope I can live up to the reputation of this board,” said Tripp.
