STC's Nursing Program Ranks Above the Rest
June 4, 2018 – Southeastern Technical College (STC) is proud to announce the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) Program is ranked first in the State of Georgia by RegisteredNursing.org and the Practical Nursing (PN) Program has been recognized as third in the state by PracticalNursing.org. Statewide, both the ASN and PN programs were evaluated on several factors which represent how well a program supports students towards licensure and beyond.
The nursing advocacy groups RegisteredNursing.org and PracticalNursing.org are composed of experts in the profession with a mission to help future nurses. These groups provide information and guidance to potential students interested in pursuing an exciting career in healthcare. These nursing leaders consider one of the best ways to determine the quality of a program is to review published data for the number of students taking and passing the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN) exams. A nursing program with a high NCLEX pass rate proves the graduates are exam ready.
“I’m so incredibly proud of STC’s ASN and PN Programs,” said Dana Roessler, RN, MSN, Dean of Health Sciences. “This recognition is reflective of the supportive administration and faculty who are fully committed to the health and well-being of our communities. A strong nursing workforce is key to a healthier community and country. Our faculty are true mentors, guides, and role models to their students.”
“An ASN or PN program graduate will have a complete understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a professional nurse in their respective area,” said Jennifer Corner, RN, MSN, Director for ASN and PN Programs. “The curriculums, for both the ASN and PN programs, include critical thinking, communication, health promotion, and cultural diversity along with an adherence to the ethical and professional principles of being a nurse. This is accomplished through a dedicated and caring faculty who utilize interdisciplinary teaching methods along with active participation in various learning activities, resulting in success for both the ASN and PN programs.”
At STC, we are extremely proud of the accomplishments of our nursing students and their dedicated instructors, past and present.
