Practical Nursing Students Graduate from STC
December 10, 2019 - The Practical Nursing program at Southeastern Technical College (STC) held a pinning ceremony for its fall 2019 graduates on December 3.
Vidalia and Swainsboro campus graduates were: Alyson Alligood, Karlye Claxton, Amber McCorkle, and Cynthia Munoz of Toombs County, Amber Hood, Stormy Scott, and Chelsea Jones of Emanuel County, Della Anderson, Cayla Bradley, and Avery Eason of Evans County, Kristin Conway and Bailee Small of Jenkins County, Candayce Harrison of Johnson County, Morgan McGowan and Alexis Martin of Tattnall County, and Cheyenne Summerlin of Candler County.
The Practical Nursing program is designed to prepare students to write the NCLEX-PN for licensure as practical nurses. The program prepares graduates to give competent nursing care such as administering medications, monitoring patients, changing dressings, and collaborating with other members of the health care team. This is done through a selected number of general core and occupational courses providing a variety of techniques and materials necessary to assist the student in acquiring the needed knowledge and skills to give competent care. A variety of clinical experiences are included so that theory and practice are integrated under the guidance of the clinical instructor.
“The fall 2019 Practical Nursing graduates have demonstrated incredible strength throughout this past year. Some have dealt with life altering events, yet they have persevered to reach their goal. The Practical Nursing Faculty is proud and honored to send this group out into our communities,” said Rachel Sikes, Practical Nursing instructor.
