STC Practical Nursing Graduates Summer 2013 Class
August 5, 2013 - Eight nursing students received their pins on Tuesday, July 30, graduating from the Southeastern Technical College Practical Nursing program in Vidalia.
Melanie Arponen of Glennville, Crystal Galbreath of Vidalia, Latosha Grace of Soperton, Kiera Harris and Claudia Rodriguez of Mount Vernon, Jamie Leopold of Reidsville, Katie Little of Helena and Kiley Plyler of Claxton all were honored in a ceremony held in the Tattnall Auditorium.
“We have grown together, helped each other, and become each other’s home away from home,” said Plyler, who was named the recipient of the class’s Director’s Award.
During the ceremony, students shared memories of their time together, including their first day of class when, despite the awkwardness, laughter and stress, all eight students recognized a common goal.
“We were all determined to develop hands that moved to heal, a heart that cares for the broken, ears that listen to the unspoken, and eyes to see what may be hidden,” said Plyler. “We were all determined to be nurses.”
The graduates also presented gifts and words of gratitude to their instructors, thanking them for the skills and confidence that now give them a bright view of the future.
“After today, many of us will go our separate ways, moving to other places, starting new jobs, or continuing our education,” said Plyler. “Wherever life takes us, we will be great nurses and we will make a difference in the lives of patients.”
