Given the rapidly changing nature of the 21st century economy, Georgia High School Initiatives:
Provide students with information, guidance and resources to make informed career choices.
Provide a platform upon which business and education interests can work together to create exceptional and competitive solutions that are mutually beneficial.
Provide enhanced learning opportunities as well as material support to both educators and members of the business community.
Mission Statement
Provide every student an opportunity to participate in a seamless educational system that includes high-level academic and technical preparation for workforce readiness and lifelong learning.
Goals
- To increase the number of students who continue their technical preparation after high school by providing a more structured transition for students from secondary schools to postsecondary education and to the world of work
- To create a seamless system among secondary schools, two-year technical colleges, colleges with jointly funded technical divisions, two-year colleges, four-year baccalaureate institutions, and the employment community
- To increase academic and technical skills through a program of study that provides a sequential program of study without duplication of course work
- To strengthen academic and technical skills through an integrated curriculum that includes, if appropriate and available, work-based learning
- To provide a program of study of educational experiences through which students will develop high academic, technical and employability competencies
- To increase academic skills through a program of study that applies academic skills to the solution of real problems found in the world of work
- To reduce the dropout rate by providing a program of study with relevance for Technology/Career-Preparatory, College Preparatory, and/or dual diploma-seeking students
