Helms named Executive Director for Economic Development & Continuing Education

Lance Helms has been named Executive Director for Economic Development & Continuing Education.
With over 20 years of experience in higher education, Lance is passionate about working with local businesses and industries to make a difference within the service area.
Lance previously served as the director of Career Services, where he led career exploration and career readiness. He facilitated job placement to support students and alumni in career development. Through personalized guidance and real-world applications, Lance helped countless students achieve their professional goals. The department expanded its services and enhanced its employer outreach to further improve employment outcomes for graduates.
Lance holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration in Finance from Georgia Southern University and a Master’s in Adult and Career Education from Valdosta State University. He is a certified economic developer trainer, certified by the Georgia Board of Technical and Adult Education. He is an active member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers, as well as the Georgia Association of Colleges and Employers. Lance was Southeastern Tech’s 2011 Staff Member of the Year.
Outside of his professional role, Lance enjoys the outdoors, working out, being an active member at Vidalia Cornerstone Church, and spending time with his family.
