Graduation will be live-streamed via the STC Facebook page.
Graduates—as we approach the August 10 date to celebrate your Graduation, may I say again “Congratulations” and express my delight that we are able to return, at the request of our graduates, to an “in-person” Graduation Ceremony.
In the education world, one of the requirements of the pandemic has been that we must be flexible, and adjust as needed due to the ever-changing nature of COVID-19. In the last few days, the number of positive COVID-19 cases has risen dramatically in our area due to the “Delta” variant. In order to keep your Commencement Exercise an “in-person” ceremony, we have to take several steps for your protection and to mitigate spread at this event.
Graduates will be limited to 6 tickets to attend this Ceremony—4 tickets will be seats in the Toombs Auditorium where the Ceremony will take place, and 2 tickets will be seats in the overflow seating in the Tattnall Auditorium, which will show the Ceremony on a large screen.
Please note: ALL people entering an Auditorium, regardless of age, MUST have a ticket. As a reminder, this event will be broadcast live, so that all of your friends and loved ones can watch. Additionally, we are going to leave the stage decorated on Wednesday, so that you may take pictures all day long if you wish.
We are requesting that graduates take as many safety precautions as possible. You will be in the line-up area for approximately 30 minutes, and then you will be seated in the Toombs Auditorium for the Graduation for approximately 1 hour. The use of masks is strongly encouraged.
Additionally, we encourage you to stress to your family and friends that if anyone is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms and/or is in an at-risk category for infection, that they do not attend the Graduation Ceremony. You will receive your tickets for your family and friends at the Graduation Rehearsal to be held at 3 PM on Tuesday, August 10. This will be the only time the tickets are distributed, so you must attend the rehearsal to receive your tickets.
This is after a lot of thoughtful and deliberate consideration of the current COVID-19 situation. It is not our intent to disrupt Graduation and celebration plans, instead, it is an effort to make sure the event will still be held. We appreciate your cooperation and assistance as we make these changes. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
