The College has more than 100 academic programs with individual accrediting bodies, licensing boards, and industry certification requirements. There is no one-size-fits-all solution for our unique and technically advanced programs during these challenging times.

It is imperative that students diligently check their student email account, and all College-related forms of communication, including the STC website, Blackboard, and STC social media accounts. While a variety of factors are guiding our decisions, please be assured that the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff, are always our primary concern.

Virtual Commencement for Spring 2020 Graduates

Students—when we postponed our Graduation Ceremony that was planned for May, it was our intent to hold an in-person ceremony in August. At that time, we believed the rate of infection for COVID-19 would be substantially decreased by August, and we would be able to hold a traditional, in-person ceremony to celebrate you and your many accomplishments. However, as you know, the rate of infection has actually substantially increased and does not look to decrease for some time. We believe that an in-person ceremony at this time would put you and your loved ones at risk of infection, and that is the last thing we want to do. Your health and safety have always been our number one priority. Accordingly, we have made the decision to change the in-person ceremony schedule for August to a “virtual ceremony”.
This event will provide a virtual commencement ceremony for Spring 2020 Graduation. The event will provide many elements of a live ceremony and will be recorded for viewing by family and friends. The commencement video may be downloaded, saved, and shared.
The date of the Virtual Commencement will be sent to you at a later date.

Vidalia: Monday, July 20 – Thursday, July 23, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Your virtual slide will appear on an STC background template with your name and degree. You may also submit a quote or remarks of thanks to be included on your slide, and we encourage you to do so.
The photo may be a cap and gown photo or a lifestyle photo, but must be appropriate for the event. If a photo is not submitted, the Southeastern Tech logo will appear on your slide.

Please submit photos to graduation@southeasterntech.edu by July 30, 2020.

Important information regarding the Application Deadline for ASN:

STC continues to monitor the fluid situation regarding COVID-19 and its effect regarding campus closure and the competitive admission deadline for ASN. At this time, the deadline for competitive admission into the ASN program remains the first Thursday in May.  All requirements, with the exception of the TEAS examination score, will need to be submitted by this deadline. The college will begin offering the TEAS once the campus opens while maintaining state and federal safety guidelines.
You can go ahead and submit an application for the Fall 2020 admission.

The application can be found on the STC website. It is the regular Admissions Application and can be found under the Admissions tab > hover over Check Your Admissions Status > Forms will appear on the right > Click on Forms and choose the application from the list. There is also a Nursing Location form there for you to indicate your program choice and backup choice. Below are instructions for a mobile app that will allow you to scan and save your documents as a PDF so you can email them to vennis@southeasterntech.edu.

Our goal is to start the Fall 2020 ASN Traditional and Bridge classes on time but with the evolving situation, there is a possibility that the cohorts may not start until Spring 2021. The decision regarding the ability to begin the cohorts will be made by May 18th.

Students—we apologize for the delay, but we are now ready to begin Advisement and Registration for Summer Semester. Please contact your advisor from your student email account to begin the process of advisement and registration for next semester. As a reminder, Summer Semester start date has been moved to May 26. At this time, we are still uncertain as to the status of classes that require face-to-face interaction. It is our strong hope that we are able to offer all classes, but this depends on the status of our state in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. We will keep you updated as to what we are able to offer as soon as we know.

If you are enrolled in a class for Spring Semester that has not been able to complete due to lab time requirements (such as Automotive, Cosmetology, Diesel Mechanic, Welding, etc.), we are still waiting on clarification and guidance of when we will be able to allow you back on campus to complete those classes. Again, this will depend on the status of the COVID-19 pandemic in Georgia. If you are not able to complete, we will award you an “In Progress” grade in those classes and work diligently with you to finish those courses as we are able.

Thanks for your patience as we all continue to work together for your success as an STC student!

Last Update: March 26, 2020 at 6:30 p.m.

In accordance with Governor Brian Kemp’s Executive Order 03.26.20.02, all TCSG colleges will remain closed for in-person instruction with limited exceptions through the rest of the Spring 2020 semester. Southeastern Technical College will continue to hold classes via digital platforms only for the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester. Students should look for specific guidance from instructors regarding limited exceptions where in-person instruction will be allowed and should continue to monitor their Southeastern Technical College email and Blackboard account for communication from their instructors. Certain faculty and staff may be required to report on campus and should contact their supervisor for guidance.

Therefore, as directed, Southeastern Technical College will not re-open either campus to the general public until the end of the current semester. Online instruction will continue. However, we know those students who are enrolled in programs that require “hands-on” lab time have many questions, as do those who are applying for programs that are competitive admit such as Associate of Science in Nursing, as well as parents of children attending our Child Care Center. Honestly, so do we — we realize that there are many unanswered questions at this time. We are living in unprecedented times, encountering situations that none of us have ever experienced. However, please rest assured that the administration, faculty, and staff of Southeastern Technical College is working diligently to come up with the answers that you need, and we will provide them for you soon. Our current national and state situation is changing daily, and the administration of Southeastern Tech is meeting daily to respond and act accordingly. Please continue to read and monitor your student email account, the STC webpage, and STC social media accounts for updates.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to work to provide the best answers and best solutions for all of our current and prospective students, and our many different constituencies.

Last Update: March 25, 2020 at 11:20 a.m.

In our continuing efforts to keep you informed of developments as soon as possible, we wanted to pass along the latest information and direction available:

• At this time, the decision has been made to tentatively re-start face-to-face instruction and re-open our campus on Monday, April 13. The College campus will remain closed until that time. This re-start date will be continuously evaluated and updates provided based on information from the Governor’s Office.

• We know that you enrolled at Southeastern Tech because you want to be able to obtain employment and go to work, and because of that, we have transitioned as many courses as possible to online instruction. As a reminder, online instruction is continuing on a daily basis. Students who encounter any difficulties during this time should check in with their instructors.• The College has made the decision to continue online instruction during the previously scheduled Spring Break of April 6 – 10. If these online classes are able to complete all mandated requirements and finish early, those classes will observe Spring Break during the last scheduled week of the semester.• The Career Fairs scheduled for April 21 and 23 have been canceled.• The Graduation Ceremony scheduled to be held in May has been postponed. The Graduation Ceremony is an event that requires months of complex planning. Because of the current state and national situation, many of the action steps necessary to be taken at this time are not able to be completed, leaving us with no choice but to reschedule this event at a later date. We are proud of your accomplishments, and know that you are as well, and we look forward to celebrating your graduation with you at a later date to be announced.

Finally, to our students – please remember that you are the reason that we exist. All decisions being made are evaluated based on actions we believe are best for our students. We are living in unusual and unprecedented times, however, we are attempting to provide as many services to you as possible. We care about your safety and well-being. Please reach out to us if there is anything we can assist you with.

Tips from the Georgia Department of Public Health

Currently, there is no vaccine to prevent COVID-19 infection. The best way to prevent infection is to avoid being exposed to this virus. To prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, the CDC recommends everyday preventive actions, including:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

These are everyday habits that can help prevent the spread of several viruses.

The COVID-19 is a rapidly evolving situation, and we are staying alert to new information and recommendations coming from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Georgia Department of Public Health.
